Announcement: Beg Yr Pardon #7 / StereoactiveNYC Presents

byp7-sanyc-aug29_2006_web.png

As you might have noticed, we here at StereoactiveNYC have really been enjoying the new Beg Yr Pardon party that began earlier this summer. So we’re especially glad to have booked and be cosponsoring one of the upcoming events. We’ve got three of our favorite local bands scheduled to perform, along with a great band from Alabama that we’ve really come to love. Together, we’re sure these four bands, along with the usual wonderful and free baked goods and beer, cheap BBQ, and DJed rock’n'roll dance sets before, after, and between the bands, will keep the good BYP times rolling and make for an extremely fun night. Beg Yr Pardon #4 Wrap-Up

Beg Yr Pardon continues to attract a good deal of attention four shows into its run. And for good reason. Tuesday night’s show delivered on the promise of the previous shows, with great sets from all the bands were were able to see. Of course, our favorite set was by The Song Corporation, who, as previously stated, grow more impressive with each performance. We were glad to hear some of our favorite TSC songs the other night, including “The Bug Speaks,” and “A Carpententer’s Cup,” as well as some newer material thjat we’re hoping to hear on their now-in-the-mix, upcoming full-length. Our only wish is that they’d played “Raisin Bran In The Sun,” a truly impressive lyrical barrage that we’ve come to admire since its release on the Raisin Bran EP.

Here’s some more on the show from a few of our favorite blogs…

Crackers United, who DJed the first half of the night, saw and liked both Susu and TSC.

Fluxblog DJed the second half of the night. We agree with him that TSC’s “We Found A Map” (at least we assume that’s the song’s title) was particularly impressive.

Ear Farm has a great wrap of the whole show, saying this about TSC:

Their show was a blast, had a pretty sweet balance between mellow songs/female vocals and more rocking songs/male vocals, and they had all kinds of people dancing and grooving along…a bunch of people got up on the stage with the band and stuff too. Yeah, I’ll be going to see them again soon – one Song Corporation show made me a fan.

Tonight: BYP#4 Featuring The Song Corporation

July 18th, 2006 | 1 Comment | Posted in live shows, parties, the song corporation

It’s Tuesday, which means there’s a fifty percent chance that there’s a bi-weekly Beg Yr Pardon party tonight. And, yes, there is. Tonight is BYP#4 and it features one of our favorite bands, The Song Corporation. Those guys are better every time we see them and they’re incredibly nice people as well. And all three previous BYP parties have been a blast. Of course, they have a lot going for them — in addition to great bands, they offer excellent guest DJs, free baked goods, free beer from 11:30pm-12:30am, and BBQ on the roof for an extra $5. It’s like one stop shopping for the necessities of life, right?

Here’s a track from The Song Corporation’s excellent Raisin Bran EP:

There’s a new documentary called Rockin’ Brooklyn about the recent music scene in Brooklyn. And it features a good group of bands: TV On The Radio, Radio 4, The National, Sea Ray, Vietnam, Pela, Coco Rosie, The Big Sleep, Moonraker, La Laque, Dirty On Purpose, and Say Hi To Your Mom.

There’s a trailer available to watch at the movie’s website.

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah has, unfortunately, had to cancel the Japanese and Australian legs of their tour due to lead singer Alec Ounswouth’s voice beginning to give out on him. Here’s hoping he’s able to recover soon.
