Takka Takka

Congratulations to Takka Takka, who recently signed with Ernest Jenning. The label will be issuing an expanded version of the band’s LP, We Feel Safer At Night, that will include tracks from their recent Talk Faster EP. This as the band heads into the studio to work on a follow-up full-length.

Galapagos Moving To DUMBO

From the New York Times:

In a move that has greater symbolic significance than mere real estate hopscotch, Galapagos Art Space, the pioneering bar and performing arts space that helped put Williamsburg, Brooklyn, on the cultural map, is moving a few neighborhoods down the East River, to Dumbo.

Galapagos, which has played host to a broad array of New York’s musicians, dancers, theater artists, performance artists, fine artists and burlesque dancers during its 12-year existence, is scheduled to move into the space, a 102-year-old, 10,000-square-foot former horse stable at 16 Main Street, in the spring or summer of 2008.

So, will DUMBO be the next place for music venues?

Live Video: The Secret Life Of Sofia – “Diamond Face”

When The Secret Life Of Sofia took the stage at Pianos a couple of weeks ago for the first time in six months, it was with a set of mostly new material. But they started off with a recognizable — and much welcome — song from their self-titled EP called “Diamond Face.” We’ll have video of some of the new stuff soon enough, but for now here’s that familiar song:

Live Video: The Muggabears – “Dead Kid Kicks”

Every time we hear The Muggabears‘ “Dead Kid Kicks,” the riff gets stuck in our heads for about a week. It’s from their recently released Night Choreography EP and they played the hell out of it —along with the rest of their set — at Pianos a couple of weekends back:
