Live Video: A Place To Bury Strangers – “Gimme Acid” + “Dead Beat”

Having experienced A Place To Bury Strangers‘ live show a number of times over the years, we were admittedly a little nervous about shooting them live. We just weren’t sure if their volume and video projection would translate well to tape in the still-somewhat-geurilla way we’ve been shooting bands. Maybe we got lucky?

This first song is called “Gimme Acid” and sounds a little bit like three guys slowly tearing the world apart. It’s not on any of the DIY EP’s we have of the band, so we weren’t previously as familiar with it as some of APTBS’s other songs. But, with it’s slow-burn driving intro and eventual explosions of guitar, it’s quite possibly among the group’s most dramatic:

And we’ve got a second video. “Dead Beat” is the more up-tempo of the two and packs all its punch into about half as much time. If you’ve ever seen APTBS live, you’re probably familiar with the sight of Oliver swinging himself and his guitar around the stage pulling every bit of feedback out of the air that he can:

Both of the above videos were shot at Union Pool on April 19th, where the band was part of Jezebel Music’s Feature Show.
