This Friday is another Hot Rock Party. In case you’re not yet familiar with it, Hot Rocks is a party that features live bands — all booked by StereoactiveNYC — with DJs playing Fifties and Sixties party music before, between, and after sets. It’s at The Delancey and we’ve got another exciting line-up in store for you this time:

8pm - Frauke

Okay, our first encounter with Frauke was earlier in the year when we started seeing them all over MySpace telling people to “dance. stop dancing.” Honestly, we weren’t sure what to make of them. Then we read this interview/review over at Ear Farm and were amused as frauke. So, we took a listen to their mp3s and ended up loving them. Yes, they’re clever and it’s fun to realize how clever they are. But beyond that, they’re also just damn good. It’s going to be an excellent start to the night.

9pm - Americans UK

According to legend (and the band’s old bio), Americans UK, “rocked their first gig at the stroke of midnight, January 1st, 2002, amongst twitching revelers and screaming girls. It was official: Americans UK were, as the kids say, the bee’s knees. Over the course of the next year, their followers became legion across the Austin, TX, music scene, as the band played everywhere from backyard parties to front yard cookouts.” Eventually, like oh so many Ausinites, they moved to New York where they stormed a new scene with their hard-rocking, energetic live shows. Then, in early 2006, the band went on an indefinite hiatus. Well, the hiatus is now over as the band has reformed and will be playing their first show in a year and a half. It’ll be a night to remember.

10pm - The Art Of Shooting

The Art Of Shooting has been one of our favorite NYC bands for quite a while. After we heard their Tyrant’s Black Eyes EP, how could they not be? They do the whole post-punk thing we hold so near and dear. And they’re female-fronted which, if you examine the list of bands we regularly follow here, we quite obviously have no aversion to — to say the least. They put on a hell of a show and we’re sure they’ll prove it yet again on Friday night.

11pm - Gold Streets

With such a big sound, we were surprised when we found out Gold Streets is made up of only three people… wait, we said that already. Okay, so we interviewed them last summer when they played at the Beg Yr Pardon party we sponsored and we reviewed their new full-length albumLooks Like Fireflies — when it came out in May. We’ve also posted videos of their live shows. What else can we say about Gold Streets? Well, we like them more every time we see or hear them, so we’re pretty sure Friday will be like totally our favorite Gold Streets show ever. And, whether you’ve seen them before or not, it will be your favorite, too.

To hear mp3s by the bands you can follow the above links. We’ve also made it easy for you by adding a track by each band to our own MySpace profile.

Drink Specials

  • 7:30pm to 8:30pm - 2 for 1 well drinks
  • Midnight to 1am - FREE Pabst Blue Ribbon beer

The dance party kicks into high gear right after the bands and usually lasts until around 3am or later. And, since it’s Summer, you can probably expect to hear a good deal of dancey, dancey surf rock mixed in with the usual garage rock, R&B, psychedelic, and freakbeat goodies.

Feel free to RSVP on Going.com if you’re into that sort of thing:
