Archive for October, 2007

We checked out Mancino last night at the Indaba Music/Underrated Magazine loft party. Unfortunately, the free beer was gone, but the band was great. They played a few new songs and we’re really looking forward to hearing those, in addition to some more familiar favorites from their full-length and EP on Saturday.
Here’s our brief review [...]

From Metromix New York:
Man in Gray have been gigging around the city for several years now, treating audiences to political screeds like “Incommunicado” (hailed by the Village Voice’s Chuck Eddy as one of the top ten tracks of 2003) off of various EPs. This year, however, the Brooklyn quintet released their debut full-length, and it [...]

Okay, so Gold Streets has played something like 100 shows we’ve booked in the last six months. What’s up with that, huh? Well, it’s because they’re good. That simple. We’ve been saying so for a while now. Here’s one of our favorite videos of them:

Chop Shop is one of our favorite finds of the year. You may have noticed A Place To Bury Strangers has been getting a lot of attention lately. Pitchfork gave their new album a glowing review and has been featuring the band pretty regularly since. So, of course, the blogging community at large started to really take notice. Really, it was about time. We’ve been [...]

The Secret Life Of Sofia is a band we’ve been following since its inception. They started out strong and have only gotten better over the short two to three years of their existence. Anyone who happened to see them, say, a year or two ago, then again in just the last few months may have [...]

We’re happy to have The Vandelles joining the line-up of the StereoactiveNYC/Hot Rocks Party Official CMJ Showcase. Also, DigitalFreedom.org will be co-sponsoring the showcase. Keep checking back for more info as October 20th gets nearer — we’ll be adding all the info to our CMJ page as it comes together.
