Blogger’s Delight is a party we’ve been interested in for a while now. First off, it’s a regular free show. Second, it’s in a good spot — the Tap Bar at Knitting Factory, a room that’s just right for a good show with a party vibe. Tonight’s show is curated by Subinev and features some interesting bands, including a StereoactiveNYC favorite: Mancino. Here’s the full line-up of bands:

9pm – Phantom Buffalo
10pm – Mancino
11pm – Hotpipes
12am – The Shamblers

Throw in DJ sets all night by Mr. Travis Harrison, aka DJ Shufflelovers, of Serious Business Records and you’re pretty much guaranteed a great night of music.

Live Wednesday: A Family Holiday Benefit

071205-familyxmas.png

Family Records has put together a compilation of holiday songs — both classic and original, all newly recorded — by a roster of local artists. Proceeds from sells will be donated to 826NYC, “a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting students ages 6-18 with their creative and expository writing skills, and to helping teachers inspire their students to write.” Among the artists featured on the album are StereoactiveNYC favorites El Jezel and Hot Rocks Party veterans Flying Machines (aka The Attorneys).

In September 2007, a group of prominent NYC musicians were invited to cover the seminal ’80s classic “Feed the World (Let Them Know It’s Christmastime).” Two dozen performers congregated at the Serious Business Studios in Soho and, over two days, in the sweltering heat, pumped out an amazing version of the BandAid tune.

Head over to El Jezel’s MySpace page to hear their original Christmas song, “Working On Christmas,” and the Benefit’s MySpace page to hear a selection of songs by some of the other artists and to order the album.

Hot Rocks is co-sponsoring the release party Wednesday night at The Delancey in NYC with Liberated Matter. Here’s the line-up and other info:

8:00: Kailin Garrity
8:15: Jeff Jacobson
8:30: Tarrah Reynolds
8:45: El Jezel
9:00: Seth Kallen
9:15: Wynn Walent
9:30: Wakey! Wakey!
9:45: Flying Machines
10:05: Chris Abad / Benjamin Wagner
10:25: Group cover of “Feed the World (Let Them Know It’s Christmastime)”

Dance party from 10pm-midnight! Free candy all night!

DRINK SPECIALS:
8-9pm: 2-for-1 well drinks
$3 PBR all night!

Doors 7:30pm. FREE admission! All proceeds from sales of “A Family Holiday” will be donated to youth literacy advocates 826NYC.
