The Deli Magazine Issue 7

For those who may not already know, we here at SANYC have a special relationship with The Deli Magazine. We contribute the vast majority of the writing that becomes the “Appetizers - Brief News From NYC Bands” section of the print edition, and we also contribute reviews and other articles from time to time.

Well, the seventh issue of the magazine is out now, available for free at various locations all around the city. Or for a cheap $5 subscription price, you can have four quarterly issues delivered directly to your mailbox.

If you’re interested in the bands we discuss here on this site, the magazine is really right up your alley. Here’s a list of some of our favorite bands that are mentioned or featured in the current issue:

Hong Kong Video

The Hong Kong was recently busy working on a new music video for their song, “Tongue-Tied” [mp3], which is now available on the band’s audio page. We have to say, the clip, which features remakes of key scenes from Bonnie And Clyde and features Dean Wareham (Luna, Galaxie 500, Dean & Britta) as Clyde to lead singer Catherine Culpepper’s Bonnie, is quite impressive looking.

And in other music video news…

Man In Gray Video

Man In Gray also recently completed work on a music video for “Thirty-Six” [mp3], which is available here. Directed by Steve Huber, it features the band backed by a bank of televisions and some very impressive effects work toward the end.
