Mama Bear is Victoria Sounthavong and Dale Pittner (former bassist for Mistakes and current bassist for The Five Cents), joined live by the Power Bottumz – J. Cook, R. McNamara, Tim Van Horn (former drummer for Mistakes and current drummer for The Five Cents), and M. Steinke. They’re probably one of the newest bands to be playing CMJ this year. We’ve had the three singles they released via bandcamp back in May on heavy rotation all through the summer and fall and the show we saw them play at Pianos back in July was the sort of skilled and confident performance you’d expect from a band with at least couple of years under their belt already, brimming with energy and enthusiasm that we think will make for an amazing start to the StereoactiveNYC Official CMJ Showcase at the Delancey on Saturday — they’re on at 6:45pm.
